Baraga is a contemporary expression of that typology by virtue of its gentle curves and generous seat formed in plywood and recycled PET felt. A foundational material in modern furniture designs of the past half-century, plywood expresses modernity in its exposed edges, rich wood grain, and curved forms.
Altherr Désile Park
The architecturally minimal base showcases the seats' gently organic and inviting shape. Available in three heights, with many powder-coat color options for this base, and in combination with the oak, walnut, and felt seats.
The sculptural possibilities of plywood was foundational to the forms of Modernist furniture and it is upon this legacy that Baraga’s designers at Altherr Désile Park developed a unique pressed felt seat.
Made from post-consumer waste products (plastic bottles) PET Felt has a very low-energy manufacturing process, no VOCs or formaldehyde binders, and will not degrade, crumble or rot. At the end of its long useful life, it is once again fully recyclable.
Baraga offers 13 standard PET Felt colors, but with the color finishing in-house at our local Michigan factory we can match and supply any color that is desired.

Renowned for the sensitive application of color to materials, Leland’s approach has always been a very considered approach. Instead of applying color such that it conceals the nature of the underlying material, color innovations consider color with materiality.
The new Gemma oak colors rely on the more strongly figured grain of natural oak to express a range of dramatic contrasts as the graining reveals itself in very dramatic figurations not seen with natural oak veneers.
While suitable for tasking, given the appealing aesthetics and woodgrain color options for the seat shell, Gemma Task is also an attractive selection for meeting rooms and any meeting area with a requirement for some design statement. An eye-catching feature is the option to select coordinating metal powder-coat colors for the task base when choosing the new Oak colors.
The Task Base affords the comfort of pneumatic height adjustment, a forward tilt mechanism, along with a 5-star wheeled base completing the adjustability and movement that one desires in an ergonomic chair.
The three oak colors: Blue Sky, Sienna, and Evergreen are drawn from the same nature palette in Leland’s Elements collection. They remain rooted in the landscape but with a rich quality of some of the most saturated colors that can be found outdoors

One of Leland’s top-selling chairs is getting a new infusion of color. The color revision of Amadeus – a simple, versatile stacking chair – leans heavily into the American story—the landscapes and landmarks that echo American Modernism.
From the charm of a classic diner along the highway to the vast openness of endless county highways, Amadeus captures the optimism and possibility that is felt in the American journey.
“The range of colors speak to that wanderlust and desire for discovery,” said Altherr Desile Park, who led the color selection and creative direction for the project.
The six new colors in the revision include; Blue Sky, Fog, Fawn, Seafoam, Habanero, and Dijon. “We saw that the places Amadeus could go were very much all over the map,” said Nigel Scott-Williams, Business Development Officer at Leland International.

Slam’s color revision extends the chair’s range in a remarkably natural way. A color palette that once focused on corporate office environments has been warmed up with a natural wood focus and coordinated shades echoing nature.
Our new palette seamlessly extends the wood color up into the poly shell, effectively marrying natural and non-natural materials in a new way. The result is a more economic version that still provides the same visual warmth and richness of a wood chair.
“We always start with defining the design DNA of the shape, to understand what qualities we want to preserve, and where is a potential to evolve. We believe that color is “the other 50%” of the design. It has the power to enhance a specific quality of the shape.”
Altherr Désile Park
At Leland, color is experimental. We believe the application is the best method for testing, and when we tried the new color variations, we were happily surprised by the result. The green and wood colors make Slam much warmer and better connected with the wood base.
The curves are more visible and, in a way, more domestic. The DNA of Slam hasn’t been changed but rather extended to a much wider spectrum—including a sustainable one.
